Fantastic ray, you're getting quite the collection for that 450g! Very impressive!

Nic, were his claspers of mature size? (I'm assuming it was male)
I ask, because this sounds like the start of breeding behavior.

When my male developped large enough claspers he started biting my male orbignyi and my female motoro, until he figured out who was who and with in a few months the female was prego and he stopped biting my orb.
--After 3 pregnancies I seperated the male from the female motoro and the breeding male started biting the male orb. again and also my larger male motoro. This went on for a month and has now stopped, as long as all are fed well.

he was around 8" and i dont think they were mature... this was awhile ago though...

well mine must be a late bloomer because he just glides around as if there are no other rays with him.

yeah..you can say is all about their personality. that's true. I know a 20inches jaquar did a serious damage to a 14inches marble motoro bite marked..but someone told me a different story...I guest maybe he is trying to breed..is yours male or female?

Really nice ray! And a 450 in an apartment... that must have been fun. We would love to do that, but we are on the third floor :grinno:.

By the way, with nightcrawlers I heard that adding USED coffee grounds to the dirt can be good for them and help them live longer. My thoughts are you might be able to buy them in larger quantities and get a price break. I hear that fishermen will buy a bunch and put them in a walled off area of their garden. So, a planter or window box could potentially do the same for you. Then just harvest them once a week and move them to the fridge so its more convenient for you to feed. We have a big fire eel who eats five at a time... so I can imagine 15+ at a time. I know i'm lazy but its a pain to wash off 5 of them let alone 15.
