melanistic yellow lab

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It looks like a lab to me... just maybe a throw back from the past if someone was mixed at one time... or it just needs a little more time to settle in and for color to enhance...alot of times these turn out to be females.

my system is maxed out and i have to keep the cover open or add a new fan to keep the processor cool :p
thats the reason it is open
and i have a nice cover for the tank so not much of a problem

I understand why it is open. Mine is open too. I just don't have it right next to a fish tank. It would be very easy to spill water into the case.

I guess that would bring a new meaning to water cooled

That's what I was thinking.

Just curious, but what makes you think so? To me they are really small and will do more growing and changing as they get bigger.

Melanistic is the opposite of what this guys is. Melanistic means it would be black or nearly so. It does not really look much the little yellow labs I have seen, but labs are quick to breed with whatever is handy from what I am told so it could be that it has some foreign blood in there somewhere or it could just be a late bloomer like others have said. One thing for sure though, it is not melanistic

lack of black and the blue hue in the finage
actually thats what made me think it is melanistic
and the yellow is tad less yellow, if you know what i mean
here are a few pics of the normal yellow labs and the one i think is melanistic

I think there is something odd about that 'electric yellow'. It doesn't appear to me to be pure.....

Here's some definitions for colours in fish.

Albino - white fish/red eyes
Leucistic - white (or light yellow) fish/black eyes {Incomplete leucistic is commonly known as PIED}
Lutino - yellow fish/red eyes (aka xanthic)
Rubino - red fish/red eyes
Melanino - black fish/red eyes
Phaemelanino - brown fish/red eyes

Melanism is an increased amount of black or nearly black pigmentation (as of skin, feathers, or hair) of an organism, resulting from the presence of melanin.

so ....... is it leucistic then
