I actually went into it with an open mind. I was disappointed.

Fortunately most of our speakers are AWESOME. We just brought Anton Lamboj from Austria last meeting. He knocked it out of the park...

The more memorable part of that meeting was that we had an awesome group order from Dave Schumacher (www.davesfish.com). I got an awesome pair of Madagascars and some Thoracochromis for 20% off list price...and free shipping. And that was before the monthly auction...

I've been a member of the North Jersey Aquarium Society for years and the Metropolitan Area Killifish Association. NJAS is like family (actually better than family). Monthly meetings, speaker programs, monthly fish and plant auctions, annual spring auction, annual fall fish show and auction, swap meets, summer picnic, holiday party, bus rides, shop hops and more. Great place to meet people, talk fish, buy fish, trade fish, learn about fish, etc. If anyone needs help in locating a fish club in their area, I'll try to help you out.
 
I dont think there really are any over here... Someone tried getting one going but fizzled out real quick...

I was a member of one about an hour away, but it had very little activity and there were a few members who were founders that I just didn't mesh well with. They pretty much focused only a couple species, not very "monster" either.
 
Are you sure that the focus on only a couple of species didn't just happen to be the topic of the speaker that month?

I'm amazed at the array of interests in our club!
