Mentally retarded fish?

Ok so I think my balas, and oscar are mental... I fed them bloodworms tonight and they seriously swam right by them like 10 times before theyd eat them. and my balas wont touch it till it hits the bottom? and once they the bw's finally go to the bottom they swim past it, then turn around, sniff it and finally eat it lol. and my oscar doesnt even chase anything he eats whatever is near him and basically lets everything go all over before he decides to finally search for it lol. Ill get a vid up tomorrow night if I can

HAving said that, Bala sharks, unless kept in large schools in large tanks with lots of refuge, are nervous at the best of times.

Oscars are far less discriminating and will pretty much eat whenever and whatever.

Yeah in the business we would call them fish with special needs or fish with disabilities. Either way starting a post with a title like that shows that you are probably (I am guessing) under 16?

can fish actually have mental disorders or handicaps though? kind of like humans. like just every now and then one comes out "not all with it" and is mentally crippled.
because i had a fish one time that i thought was like that (killed himself) and ever since then ive always kind of woundered if fish could be mentally handicaped or if maybe that fish in particular was just really strange and didnt know how to swim or eat or anything else
