But one thing this reminds me of, like totally, is like when my girlfriend Tiffany, like tottaly, OMG freaks out once a month, like totally, and I like hav no idea why, but once a month she does, like cry and stuff when we are watching MTV and I don't know why, and OMG, i totally have an Oscar like that, like OMG totally... I have a special needs turtle. A lamp turns on on the other side of the room, she goes up to bask, then looks around like an idiot, "where's the light?" and sit there looking around for an hr or more. Growing up she was fed a bad diet, not fed enough, had filthy disgusting water, AND was in a tank too small. I rescued her at age 11. So 11yrs of that? yea, she has an excuse... All the dumb stuff she does is still funny as H3ll. Mentally challenged turtle

my turtle is like that as well, but in a different way.
He was fed goldfish for the first 9 years of his life. So i think he was a vitamin b1 issue. He cannot attack stationary pred (aka the veggie rounds I feed him and other veggies that do not move).
He just bites and misses. It scares a lot of people.

Anything with a brain, yes..even fish, can develop a "mental" disorder.

Actually, anything with thoughts is a mental being. That's in the same realm as having "TMJ". You have two TMJ's and without them you could not move your jaw. If you have a mental disorder, or a TMJ disorder, then there is an issue. Same thing with swim bladders. How many times have we had to smash our heads on the keyboard when someone comes in here worried that their fish possesses an organ they are supposed to possess? Most fish do have swim bladder, otherwise they would sink...I think you get it.

And yes, just like humans, plenty of fish come out with deficiencies in data processing. They just need the extra loving, that's all.

Yeah in the business we would call them fish with special needs or fish with disabilities. Either way starting a post with a title like that shows that you are probably (I am guessing) under 16?

uhm no im almost 18. and what the difference between mentally retarded and mentally disabled? thats right nothing.. moving on.. my balas are in a school. Im just saying I think they're wierd because the way they eat, ive never seen fish eat the way they do. and I love oscars, and my balas.

sounds like there is too much extra food floating around in your tank and the fish dont know what to do with it... any planaria or small white worms in you tank??

no they eat it they just take forever like they dont know how to eat lol. my fish are healthy I just think its wierd that they're not like my other fish when it comes to eating, my other fish in my 55g they smash on blood worms, and any other food I put in.
