Mentally retarded fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I certainly wouldn't take advice from them on anything!

sounds like someones mad about the truth lol. and you still cant add fish the next day even with old filters. more like 3-5 days minimum. i think you got pretty lucky with that move. and im simply telling you what i know from expirience, i could care less if you listen to it. plus this isnt JUST FOR YOU, people with the same issues will look at this thread and get answers to their problems so getting your panties in a bunch over every little thing will get you and them no where

No people on this forum told me itd be okay, and the lady at my petsmart I go to actually knows alot about fish keeping and she has a bunch of fish and tanks saltwater and fresh so she knows whats shes talking about.
some people say it works, other people KNOW it doesnt. plus petsmart is a business, theyll tell you what you want to hear to get your money. and most employees at petsmart arent too bright to start off with. but if you really think itll work, go for it. ill be sure to look out for your post in 6 months saying "why did my oscars kill each other?" though

I trust this lady because everything I ask her question wise she gives me the same answers as anyone on here does, however she wasnt there the day I got my other oscar, so I could ask her what she thought.

Well, all I can say is if you honestly believe that stressing those fish out, and putting them in potential danger is the right thing to do, than by all means, go for it.

exactly my point. gotta love the stubbornness in some people though. ill never forget the guy who told me
what do you mean 5 jardinis, a rtc, and 4 pacus wont work in my 150g? the man at my lfs just sold me all those fish and said that i have room for more! youre crazy if you think ill believe you over a man who does this for a living
, this is what this whole thing reminds me of lol.

btw, all the mans fish were dead by some "freak accident" 8 months later when i checked in on him, who would have guessed right?

Exactly, nearly everything i do with my tank i ask for advice or words of wisdom here first.

There is one guy i will trust sometimes at my LFS, shown me pics of his tanks, fish, etc, he seems pretty legit, wouldnt even doubt it if he came here...

But, petsmart, no... When i first got into fish keeing my first tank was a 10g (what a suprise), and i went to petsmart looking for fish, the chick told me i would be ok with a pleco, 3-4 clown loaches, and a couple balas.. luckily though i didnt have the money for that combo, so i went home, went fishing, an caught a little 2 inch sunfish that i kept untill it was about 7-8 inches, grew that big in 4 months..

Point of the story is, sometimes, on a rare occasion people at petsmart get it right, but its very rare, if you want to find some expert advice, come here, and actually listen, dont argue and say "well, petsmart told me this", etc, etc...

Im not my people on here told me that the list I was wanting to get would work great... Ive said that now like twice?? Im taking my O and bala's back here after I go fishing for them... :/ Idk what Im going to get I'm thinking about ordering a rope fish from live aquaria Ive always thought they were pretty sweet, and I should def have room now with taking all these back.

well I managed to catch my oscar... however the balas arent happening... I cant get them lol. however one jumped out this morning after I went to work and I came home to see it layin by the stand. suprisingly my cats didnt eat him lol i dont know how

you cant just get A rope fish. you need a large group of them. i own some myself. you can get them for $11 each at petsolutions.com, thats where i bought mine. in your tank, i wouldnt be too scared to maybe invest $150 on just the ropes to build up a large group. but if you only get one then itll be really stressed out because they are somewhat "schooling". good move taking back the oscar though.
and ill even admit, i made the same mistake one time in a way lol just not with two oscars. when breeding season came along and my oscar was about 5", it went after any cichlid or cichlid-like fish and attacked it. killed one of my bluegils, killed my old jd, and even killed a pacu.
thats just with fish that he thought looked like cichlids, so if he would have seen another oscar it would have been his first target. unless by some slim chance they had been male and female and they were compatable. because with all cichlids, just because you have a boy and a girl doesnt mean theyll mate and get along. has to be a perfect breeding pair which is hard to come by
