MFK as social media platform and AI

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why would AI 'want' to answer peoples' questions? It is not going to happen.

So called AI might be used by a few scammers, as has been seen already, for fake adverts.

That's all.

Right, but it could be that the AI is trying to establish credibility, so that its advertisements are more effective.

Case in point: i started buying NLS based on reading reviews of it here on monsterfishkeepers. When i was considering which food to buy, it certainly helped that the "reviews" or "advertisements" that i saw here were made by successful, established keepers with a lot of credible evidence posted here.
Any AI that could legitimately call itself an AI should be able to discern and learn. Without the actual "intelligence" they are just computer programs.

I think the first step an AI would take on forums like this is analyzing the "like" punches. For instance, whatever algorithm the AI is using could correlate a post with more likes with higher validity, establish a baseline of sorts for ranking postings.

Hi Aubree. I'm thinking about moving my 800g tank to the rear and my 110g forward. Which is best?

interesting to think that in a few short years AI could be running in the background of this and every other board you frequent.

It's so fascinating to think about how AI could be integrated into social media platforms like MFK in the near future.

The zillion incoming questions and topics answered and debated by multiple login identities chatting back and forth in way very similar to what we see now...

Imagine all the questions and topics being answered and debated by multiple login identities, just like what we see now.

the rich tapestry of people and experiences that make this and many other boards up would be missing.

The richness of this board and many others would be missing without the diverse people and their experiences..

...the time comes very few of us are likely to know if we're chatting w/ an AI or we instead have a real 'dirt under the fingernails' respondent w/ real actual experience in the topic being discussed.

When that time comes, it'll be hard to distinguish between chatting with an AI or a real person with actual "dirt under the fingernails" knowledge.

I though that I recognized a couple of those turns of phrase from recent posts.

Seems as though you may have a stalker, TB. :grinyes:

There are "robots" from google, bing and yonder viewing threads on this site right now.

That's painfully obvious to me; I have just now found out that I have a digital stalker too!

I'm trying to laugh about it, but...it really isn't funny. I wonder if mine... S sixog1634 ...is just another alias for your A AubreeWeaver .

Oooh! The plot thickens! I just tried to look up some posts by A AubreeWeaver and was unable to locate a user by that name. I wonder...will S sixog1634 also mysteriously disappear, only to re-surface with another username and target some other unsuspecting MFK member for mimicry and persecution?

I haven't felt this uncomfortable since I tried polyester fleece long underwear...

I logged on to Google's "bard" AI a few days ago and asked it some questions about a particular crook that's been on my mind. That thing came up w/ all kinds of info and some of it appears to have come from behind paywalls and similar. The impression it left me was that it could find detail I'd never even know to ask and that it also could find fake info (like padded resume's and the like) that are no doubt stored in more secure areas than I could typically access.

The aspect of mining sites seems reasonable. The concept of haunting them as a nuisance seems less so.

Thats funny, 1 of the reasons i havent been on here much lately is i found a lot of new members annoying with their seemingly cut and pasted from wikipedia responses that didnt have any "personality" as mentioned before. There were quite a few a couple of months ago that seemed to be responding to every post and i just found it irritating and a waste of time. None of them seem active now, I wonder if some of them were AI Bots or just the usual clowns who want to appear smarter than they are?
