I actually had to drop myself back down to 10, as my little shortnose ended up dead. I think he must have injured his spine.

I had to take down my 56g that he was growing out in, put him in the 150g with my spotted, goldy and another small florida. Three days later he was dead on the bottom looking a bit bent. I think the extra space + shortnose skittishness = him dying.

That's why people recommend a step-up tank process for growing gar (he was about 6").
