MFK's Official Minitank - Rebuild (ZERO NITRATE)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Get the 18" model and it should fit your 10g fine. If you are unsure of single bright vs. double bright I vote you get the double bright. You can always cover a few LEDs with tape if it is too bright. But I find the single bright is enough light in my 20.

justin why not fill the space between the BG with foam to keep the pleco out? dave

Welcome to MFK David! :welcome: I have to leave the cavity for the root structure of the plants. They are the biological filteration for the tank and very a very thick root structure.

Done, just ordered.. :D I supose your right, I can always scale it back if it's too much light. I will just get algae growth which my lil pleco will enjoy so it can't do any harm.

I think you could get away with the single bright. Double bright is brighter... Depends on what kind of look you're going for.

Haha, looks like you beat me to it. I will be wanting to see that fixture in person when you get it, I'm replacing all my fixtures (except my planted 33) with LED and still haven't decided on brand.

Hold off before you do bro. See if you like these first. If I like them I will get new lights for the 120g and 300g too. I'll have extra T5HO fixtures and bulbs when I do, if you want to go that route instead.

EDIT: All the fish and plants get moved today. I'll see if I can talk the wife into grabbing me a new titanium heater for this tank too.

I should have the new lights by Tuesday afternoon when I get home from work. I went ahead and ordered the 48" version as well for my 120 gallon so they match. I'll get pics up of that as well when they get in.

Fish movin day. I still need to go pick up a new heater. The plants actually seem to have grown in the holding box.

All plumbing is done and ready to start moving over plants. All of the foam is cured, water is testing clean and I'm good to go. I LOVE this little Eheim.. 10 times better than the HOB. :D

I moved over a pothos plant to this tank as well to eventually wrap around the tank/cover the LED fixture. Below this is a pic of my pohos in my 120 gallon, it's over 6 feet long taken from a 2" cutting..

I also decided since the rocks that were in the tank where black with white sand, that tan rocks with the tan colored sand would look better against the background so snagged a few from other tanks.

More pics in a sec..
