Interesting analogy here :) Different beers contain different nutrition :) How about this, for a varied diet, I drink different kinds of sodas, different kinds of milks, etc. :)

Sorry for an off-topic, but couldn't resist...

LOL I love it

as for the insects just throwing them in like stated works well, just have to watch so they all get eatten...other wise they will crawl up a power cord and get out...then you have them running around your house.....found out the hard way....i was finding crickets every were....

My 21" silver goes nuts for live superworms. But they get expensive since he can eat 30-40 of them for a single supper. I'm going to look into frozen pinky mice for a treat once a month.. great thread!! :D

Yes superworms are expensive especially when the arowanas eat them like kids eating candy.. I'm wondering though, I'd a green arowana & a channa micropeltes once but when I throw in a baby white mouse in, they just ignored it? Well at first the arowana bit it but then just totally ignored the mouse.. After a while I took the mouse out & tried to save it but two days later it succumb to the bite wounds.. :(

I've had two silvers that had mice in there diet. One or two a month really bulked them up. Never had an issue with wounds or digestion.
