Oh yeah like me... who happens to work closely with MDNR on invasive issues. IN DETROIT...I live here too and I'll tell you we are serious about this in this watershed.

Jon just keep the damn fish to yourself OK..and make sure they never see native waters again.

On the point of Lake Erie water snakes and Round goby:
This is in fact true, these snakes are almost exclusively now feeding on Gobies. This however is not all that good as the goby eat Zebra mussels and this has caused a biomagnification issue. they are storing a great deal of toxins within them. The affects of this long term has yet to be determined.

Any reason why they are thriving on the gobies right now? I read that biologits and ecologists were stumped on what was causing the population decline prior to the introduction of the gobies.

The anecdotal thought is that the Sculpin population was already in strong decline even before the round goby was introduced. There is some evidence for this in the Western Lake Erie basin. Insularum primarily feed on benthic fishes.

This was not the only cause for decline though, Habitat alteration and general persecution before the aggressive education and management plan also contributed.

u can walk 5 feet and see 40 dead gobies
Now that puts a smile on my face :)

I love this thread......
This should have been done the second the first Goby was discovered!
