Where ever i'm at!
Can anyone advise what kind of microscope would be best for our hobby? Viewing water samples, fish tissue samples, disease ID etc... The more specific the better i.e. type, brand, model?

go over to simplydiscus and search there are tons of threads on affordable scopes

I was going to recommend the same thing. Those guys are way more advanced when it comes to microscopes and health issues.

For the hobby, a good student level dissecting microscope should fit the bill for most of the hobby. You'd need a different scope for viewing pathological and water samples than for viewing larger samples such as eggs, scales, fry, etc. And, nowadays, you can connect most scopes to your pc to capture pics or video. This setup runs under $200 on ebay.
