Midas aka Amphilophus citrinellus at Fish Story

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Atan the midas had reached 14"-15" and has just been upgraded to 4500 gal as a trial. It had had a half of 240 gal before that for a while. Despite ferocious appetite, Atan got pretty pale in there, almost washed out red, but in the 4500 gal the red is making a strong come back. Don't know what to attribute it to except the mood improved, from bored to excited to explore and interact...

What a hog!

Good eye. You are right. Atan is unstoppable and uncontrollable during feeding. It will feed to death as most of his kin CA cichlids do IME, such as our three Vieja melanura synspillum, such as our two cyanogutattus / carpinits, etc. Our Vieja argentea do better.

Anyhow, Atan MUST go out of the 4.5K and back into one of the 240 gal, otherwise it will be dead soon from an overloaded intestine clog!
