Midas and Bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Actually tried this with an oscar and a senegal thay was quite smaller let bichir out of bag oscar sucked him in head first then spit him out got along fine after that no further incident maybe they taste bad or maybe it was that bichirs lucky day he lived 8 years after that with all manner of aggressive fish

Midas cant be with any other fish at all 95% of the time....

Suprised nobody brought up tank size. That will make a big difference. In a 75 gallon tank, I wouldn't risk it. In a 125 or bigger, with hiding places for the bichir, it could work, depending on the Midas' temperament.

I've always had bichirs with all my aggressive CA/SA's midas, RDs, Dovii, Umbee's, etc...... I've NEVER had a cichlid kill a bichir I have been keepin them together for over 15yrs. now

+1

Only problem I have had with mixing them is getting food to the bichers. Food dont seem to make it to the bottom for the bichers unless I overfeed.

The good thing is that my Midas only likes his NLS pellets, Omega one pellets and the occasional bloodworm treat. He does not like krill, beefheart or anything like that. He just lets it sit on the bottom and refuses to eat it.

what the tank size??

It is a 120. I think that I talked to you about putting an ornate in my 125 with my flowerhorn. These are the only fish I could think of putting with my Midas and Flowerhorn.
