nobody have an opinion? oh and also wanted to add that since the fungus went out of the eye, it is now flat and not rounded like its supposed to be and the iris is kind of smudgy looking instead of perfectly round and he seems to be having minor depth perception issues every once in a while when he goes for a pellet or something, if its only eye damage then that sucks but he will be fine and i can put him back in the big tank but i dont want to put him back in if he may still be sick (though its obviously not contagious...)

Looks like you and I have the same type of situation going on. My fish is back to normal but still has a slight spot on his eye. I'm done treating this fish for sure. He is currently in his tank eating well but still has a spot on his eye and sometimes I think he's blind in that eye. Other than that he acts completely normal. I decided not to spend anymore money on meds for this fish and just wait and see what happens to him. At this point I don't really care to be honest. Its been a nightmare for sure. Good luck with yours and it sounds like your fish might have some kind of permanent damage to his eye area. At least you didn't loose any fish. I lost 6 fish total and want nothing more to do with Gymnogeophagus.

ugh that sucks, yeah i think i would be done with them after that as well, and yeah i dont think im going to spend anymore money on meds either, ive spent more than 25bucks on just meds for him, and yeah i think he definitely has damage to the eye, probably permanent, which is fine i mean its not the prettiest but he still acts normal, i just wanted to see if it was possible he still had infection, but its not like a spot its like kind of cloudy (but a different cloudy than before) on the bottom portion of his eye but im thinking its just damage i dont see any kind of infection living through all the meds i put in that water... i think im just going to go ahead and put him back in the big tank and just watch him closely

i bet there will be physical damage done, i had a pair of fish that were recovering form something like that and never completely lost the cloudiness. they were partially blind or blind.

ok yeah well its just the one eye and he still swims and eats fine, so it sucks but its not that big a deal if its permanently damaged as long as he is healthy then thats all that matters, but yeah so i added him back to the big tank and other than getting beat on a little for being the "new" guy he seems to be doing fine (fingers crossed, they really need an emoticon for that lol)

Sara, thought I answered you but seems my post wasen't put up. Just noticed. Seems you have done everything right. If his appetite has returned that means he will heal alot quicker with a healthy diet. Just keep an eye on it and give him the last treatmebents. Stay away from salt for now as there is no need for it. honestly, I have only had bad luck with salt Vs Meds. They never react well with salt. ANyway, GL and keep up the updates.

yeah i finished all the treatments and he is now back in the big tank, and yeah i was only going to use the salt AFTER i had taken the meds out of the tank but im not doing that anymore because i thought it would be better to go ahead and put him back into the larger tank where he will be more comfortable

I'm happy to hear things worked out. That was a tuuff one to fight, but the combination of meds finally beat it. The damage to the eye might be perminant but at least you didn't lose him. Great job!

thanks and yeah seems like the meds did the trick (they better have after all i paid for them haha) other than a couple bite marks from being re-established into the tank hierarchy he is back to acting normal and begging for food along with my festae whenever i come near the tank :)
