I do not know anything about CA's at all, I'm a SA guy. Mostly eartheaters. This seems wrong though, even to me. :confused:

1) Is it even possible for a midas to be in a 20 gallon for two years?
2) What size would normal 2 year old midas be in inches?

Here is the link I pasted the add as welll un case it gets flagged...

7-8 inches healthy Midas cichlid looking for a new home. Can grow up to 12 inches in size, depending on tank size. We have had this fish for over 2 years. Asking for $16 or best offer.

Photo is taken with the fish in a separate tank. Normally this fish lives in a 20 gallon tank alone.

Midas cichlid

* Diet: Flake, Frozen, Feeders

I would say that fish has been stunted. A two year old male could go up to 14" TL with a female toping out somewhere around 10" +/- or so.

A 20 gallon tank is redicules it needs a min of 75 by itself.

Yeah I am researching them right now and your right. Poor guy. I was always under the general impression that CA"s need allot larger tanks than SA cichlids do because of aggression.

i believe its a bit stunted, but i also think that is just a photo tank

A Midas living in a 20 for two years is a NO! That poor fish is stunted. I can't believe that some time during those two years that the owners didn't realize how small that tank was for an adult Midas.

This poor guy needs a rescue.
If someone kept a St Bernard in a 5x5 box for two years the SPCA would be all over it.
I guess people just don't see fish as the same type of pet.

Yes the picture is of the fish in a bowl for photographic purposes. The fish has been housed in a 20 gal for two years.

Yeah I was put off at first then I read the 20 gallon part.. Seems like dude had the time to google care for it copy/past in the CL add though.

Modest_Man and Cavamart got me looking into CA's/doing some homework and I found this add.
