Midas in 20 gallon/Bowl???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
johntap124, the original poster is not the owner of that fish. He was linking to a Craigslist ad.

Midas need so much room not just because they grow to 10-12" within a year, but also because they are very active fish. They enjoy and need at least 4 feet of swimming length, and more if you can provide it. Unfortunately, large cichlids are often bought as small juveniles and the owner has no idea what they're getting into. Very sad for this fish, but hopefully someone can rescue him and give him at least a 55-75g.

dude if u cant afford a 75 gallon then try to get a 45 to 60 gallon tank next time u get a fish that can become as big as that fish just trying to help

You thought that was my fish!!!!! That fish is in an add somewhere it's non of ours.

JK it is worthlooking into CAs. They are very interactive and personable fish. I love both SA and CA but I really like the personalities of the Amphilophus sp. Once you get hooked, well you know already!

Thanks Natalie! Guys it's not my fish nor am I a troll or anything I promise. :( I was just asking the experts when it comes to CA's because I know very little about them. LFS around here have them in tanks that size all the time, I just assumed it was temporary.

Thanks so much for that Tom. :D I think I will start a different thread to get opinions on CA's. I can't seem to sell my 220 so I was toying with a CA tank.

Yeah I was put off at first then I read the 20 gallon part.. Seems like dude had the time to google care for it copy/past in the CL add though.

Modest_Man and Cavamart got me looking into CA's/doing some homework and I found this add.

Come to the darkside. ;)

Which one was the 220, the one in the garage? Hmm.

GO FOR IT!! :headbang2 I wish I had 220g to work with. You could fit some really nice fish in there!

I've been to many fish stores where they keep eight to 10 inch fish in 20 gallon tanks. Sure they're not meant to be in there for long, but they do it and the fish are healthy enough.
