That guy is going to be a beast. I dig the coloration he has, the black spots will eventually go away. I was told (don't know that it's fact) that Midas and Red Devils get those black spots while growing... as a indication they're about to go through a growth spurt.

the black will go away as he martures. Its what is left of his peeling stage.

lovely fishes OP Can someone tell me what score with these black patches is then and what the 'peeling stage' is - my midas is about 4mths old and has started developing these little black splodges on his head and has developed 2 quite thick black lines down his throat , also his deep orange colour is turning whiter . cheers

thanks. the peeling is a color morph they go through they are born barred and pel as they mature.
