I keep a 90 gal @ my office. I came in this morning and my Midas has major pop-eye. It's in both eyes, but one side is severely worse. His last water change was on Saturday. Right now I'm only running an Emperor 400 on it because I am waiting for a new FX5 to ship out. Can someone out here help me with some treatments? I've already scanned several articles and I have seen tons of different advice, but it's all different no one seems to agree. I appreciate any help. So far I've read about doing as much as a 50% water change and adding some Epsom Salts (one TB per 5 gal). He is the only fish in there with 3 feeder goldfish right now, some snails and a baby pleco which I assume will be eaten before he can grow big enough to do any good. So far I have figured out that it is a symptom and not a disease. I don't know anything else that could be causing it. I don't see anything else on his body and yesterday he was acting totally fine.

Well, here is an update...to myself I suppose. Got off work and have done a 50% water change. Removed the carbon media from the filter and have added some ich and other fungal treatment to the water as well as salt. Here are some more crappy cell pics. I hope he makes it. I have had this guy for 8 years and he is beastly

the water is light blue now and the specks in the picture are paint flakes from when the tank was painted around

Good luck. is your fish a medium fish ?

Ive had better luck with using meds when I add some aeration to the tank. Poor fish. wish I could help more.

This was a very good source of info about ich. Apparently you just need to beat it in 48 hour cycles. I turned up the temp too since that speeds up the life cycle.

He is still alive, but it looks like he is going to lose the one eye. I am scheduling a 25% water change today and a second treatment. I'm using Aquarium Pharmaceuticals super ick treatment.

So far I have done a 50% WC, turned up the temp, added salt for the stress and the API treatment. The best news tho is that the new filter I have been waiting on finally shipped. I found a brand new FX5 online for $220 and it sold out when I ordered it so it should have originally been here yesterday but only shipped yesterday. If my midas can make it through the next few days I will be able to heal him up.

He is about 13"
