I have been thinking about getting a Midas, but was unsure of tank mates. I was thinking of putting one with my Senegal and Delhizi bichirs and just wanted to make sure this was possible before I go and get the Midas.

I would only keep Midas's in a tank by themselves. too stressfull.

My old one use to harass my 9 in pleco. Depends on the individual fish though you could find one that tolerates tankmates.

Midas are funny with who they like in their tanks. It could work or the Midas could stress the others out in a major way. It all depends on the fishes personality. My Midas seems pretty easy going, gives the pleco a bit of a time but has never bit or tore him up. Just a little attitude toward him.

I am about two weeks out from setting up my 120g future home for my Midas. I will add some silver dollars with him then. This combo should work. I would love to add bichirs with my fish but the way he slurps down nightcrawlers, the bichirs would not have a chance!

my female midas (4'' at the time) was housed with 3 Tiger Oscars. i left them in with a cousins for a week cos was setting up a new tank. the midas terrorised the 3 oscars and the oscars tried to avoid my midas by floating up near the surface. but, the midas kept dragging onto the oscars anal fin and dragged it back down for a beating. one oscar died and the other 2 got ripped fins so a divider was put in place before any further damage was done before i took her back.

Any thoughts on what i can put in with the bichirs? i'm looking for something intresting with a personality. i've done oscars before, but have gotten tired of them (no disrespect to the oscar lovers out there, i've just had them my whole life and have gotten tired of them).

I have my 9" female midas in with senegal bichirs ranging from 3"-10" and a 4" green terror.
she happens to be very good with tankmates. the odd telling off but no actual fighting. although i do believe that she the exception to the rule, but it can happen. she is also moving to a 150g (5x2x2) to ensure she has adequate space so i can hopefully avoid potential aggro as her tankmates grow.

my current tank is a little bigger than a 55 but not by much. i can tell you that she makes this look small at 9", never mind being a foot long or bigger if its a male.
