Midget/ mini marble motoros?

Does he keep them?

This is a trait we stumbled on. Compared some observations on animals we've kept. There's no place to go buy something people are likely not that familiar with, as you'd really only be familiar with it if you're raising these things scratching your head wondering what's wrong, why they aren't growing.

Myself,I've been doing my best to disprove it! I've tried too big of tanks and overfeeding but haven't found a way to fix it.

I have one here I believe originated from Rapps. ;)

I am not arguing against it and honestly asked Rapps because I would like to acquire one. A more manageable sized ray is awesome. I seriously would like to buy one if anyone gets pups from a mini.

Ive just bought a mini marble female pup. Looking for a male to keep her company now :)

So are midgets being born to normal sized adults? Or could it be a breeding defect like balloon mollies where it stunts their growth instead? Id be curious as to what the pups would be like if a midget were mixed with a full sized adult if the pups would carry the gene or if its recessive...

Any others with experience with these rays?

Midget dad x Full size mom = midget pup. Pup is going on 4 years now I believe, and she's 8" across.

The other 2 CB rays I have here are too early to tell if they'll be midgets.

I don't think it's a breeding defect. I think that people haven't been keeping the nicer Marbles long enough to realize max size.

Go dig up some old threads and you'll find that even the "big" marbles have a very tough time reaching 2'. I was only able to find 2 examples over 2' and one was thought to have Motoro blood in it.

Look at Aquaman's "big" marbles. I don't think either of his are over 20" and I think he's had them 10+ years.

Great thanks for the info! Itd be awesone if all the pups stay smaller. Theres a lot of people who dont keep rays cuz they dont have space for a 6x4 or larger tank. If a full grown midget could be kept in a 180 or 225 wide... i wonder if any other breeds have this gene as well

I think it's the same with all rays some get bigger than others in all species

I have a giant size female p14 that's a good 4-5 inch disk bigger than any other female I have had
I'm not going to tag her with the name megaton p14 she's just bigger I have also had male p14 max out at 14inch disk I'm not going to call him a dwarf p14

No one can determine the full adult size of any living thing people can just give you a guide line

Ok point well taken but if it held true that a smaller parent always produced a pup that would have a smaller max size then the smaller rays could be marketed as such. What you call it doesnt matter.
