These people are getting seriously emotional. Live and learn man. If i were you I would get annoyed by all these people trying to tell me how to be a father.
I will take fish advice from you people, but in no way take any parental advice. Do what you gotta do for your daughter. If she broke up with you, it couldnt have been a happy relationship in the first place.
A bltch is a bltch, a fish is a fish, but a daughters your life. And if thats not how you feel bro, then your little girl would be better growing up with a stepdad.

While you just did the exact thing you complained about, it was good advice...

sorry to hear that.:(

I am not sure how talking about having to give up the fish turned into talking about abandoning your daughter though..:screwy:

a leap was made there that should not have been made.

there is no reason that you can't be a great father to your daughter and still have a fish tank down the road.

besides, most kids love fish tanks.

good luck with it all and hang in there.

Yeah there was a big leap back a few threads LOL. This hobby will still be around when the OP is ready. Good luck with everything bud :)

Thanks for the replies everyone, I didn't want to go too much into my personal distress or all of that business because this is a fish forum and I don't want to drag everyone down but rest assured I will be there for my daughter 24/7. I'll be looking to get a place local even though this is not where I am from, I moved here to be with her and outside of her family and friends the only people I know are from work but better that than only being able to see the little one once or twice a month!

The fish was like a final kick in the teeth, my daughter loves the fish especially the "snake" (Fire Eel). A guy I work with keeps Tropicals but he doesn't do regular water changes and trades his fish all the time because he gets bored with what he has easily :screwy: so that rules that out. I'm still living in the house with her so need to get out soon but I have a bit of time to try and find somewhere that will let me keep the fish!
