Min tank size for an aro?

minimum for a red aro is 180 gallon. 6X2X2 silver needs much larger tank. thinking of getting a red one? i can suggest some places to find them in GTA if you want.
 
for a silver, a 180 should last you till the fish is 2. a 300 would last another couple years, probably and then something at least 3 feet wide by 9 feet long should last for life, but they do sometimes exceed 3' in captivity. a 10x4x3 would be ideal for life, IMO, although bigger definetly wouldn't hurt.

I´d say for a perfekt keeping the tank should be MIN. 10ftx4ftx3ft
I have a 26inch+ black aro in a 11x3x2ft tank and it is ok, but a silver would be now longer and double that fat !

And If u have ever seen how mature Silver Aros act in a 15x8,5x8,5ft tank you would never again keep them in only 2ft tall tank
 
Hear we go again 99% of all aro keepers will never have a tank that if perfect for a aro the perfect tank for a aro is called river. just get the best tank you can get the truth of the mater is a large amount of people think a 75g is huge thousands of aros die every year due to ignorance, and the pet industry will gladly sale them another silver. If you cant at least get a 240g 300g than look at a different fish but that's the minimum the question was whats the min tank size not the ideal tank .I was just down in china town they had three silvers and two blacks in a 350g they had been in their for years very healthy aros ideal no, but it seamed to work out.
 
Great answer badfish! If you can't keep a fish of that size, don't get it. We always want the best for our wet pets. Get the biggest tank you can afford and go from there. If it is still too small, get some different fish. Good luck. FF
 
Just consider that with proper care a silver aro will get well over 30" in length. But as you can see by the above poster, there are many who are cruel enough to keep them in little 4 foot tanks :screwy:
 
if people only brought fish they can house for life the LFS wouldnt sell hardly any RTC,TSN or aros

its all very well saying this or that tank can hold a silver aro for life but how long will its life be
