Min' tank size . . .

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep they are , thats why i am wanting the one i have seen at my LFS so much and try to find away of getting him and house him for life . :)

Posted my planes upon the Indoor Pond section to get peoples thoughts on my pond planes . But anyone that looks at this Thread please post your thoughts on this , my plans on the pond , fish , filtering and what ever you think you need to say please post .

8'x6' foot print would last you for years. Even your initial 7x3x3 would lasts for couple of years imo. Mines (pushing 80cm) are living in 10'x6(ish)'x2(ish)' (3x2x0.8m) tank and they are fine.... gaining girth lately - not so much length. They will not reach 6' in a VERY long while (if ever) in captivity. The largest RTC on MFK that i have seen so far is "only" 4'

Great , ' so the pond idea , the size is ok for a RTCxTSN for a long time ' ?

Deffently going to do this then !

Still need to decide on fish to go in with the RTCxTSN , Would my Oscar and Silver Awo' be ok in with him when they get to a decent sizes ?

What other fish do you think would work too ?

I would love some Stingray but i dont know if i could get any from my LFS , i know i could get them off the 'net but i would like to see them first before buying them and wouldn't want to risk shipping on a fish that expensive .

My two cents on O and Silvers heheheh

I have one living with RTCs that could eat it if they wanted to, but so far they don't. I had one cute albino oscar donated to me, it was gone in not so long time (granted it was smaller than the resident O and brigther in color which might have invited an attack by RTC or gars... RTC ate him, but gator could have been responsible for kiling - this i will never know).

Now, necrocanis has monsterous RTC and RTC/TSN hydrid living with bunch of O's so it can be done.

As for silver, my RTC ate one silver. I did not try ever since. Your TSN is certainly capable of eating this flexible spageti of a fish

On the other hand, TLkmDN has massive RTC living with quite a large silver (among others) ... imo RTC could eat it, but it does not for some reason.

Whatever you do, you are doing it with risk.... that is the nature of comm tanks/set-ups - rewards are great but so are risks (and heartbreak)

ok thanks . ill think i will just have to try .

My LFS has a 2.5foot Clown knife would he be ok in with a TCxTSN which is currently about 10inch , but of cause will get huge in no time .

Looks like you may have some issue with the waterflow if you make the pond in an "L" shape. How do you plan to keep the current moving?

I am thinking on having the pump right at the other end of the pond with the filter round the theotherside pumping the water back in to the pond .

Leave it for couple of month see how it goes with keeping th pond clean/ clear and how the much it pushes the water about . If it doesnt keep it clear and pushes the water around the pond good enough i think ill have to buy another pump and filter , put it at the other end of the ' L ' .

Any thoughts on the Clownknife with the RTCxTSN , and sorry i ment to say 1.5foot Clownknife not 2.5foot .

I think he's about that size i cannt remeber off the top of my head .

Also if i dont go woth a RTCxTSN , because i keep getting told that he will most likely eat the other fish in the pond with him , What other Larger Catfish growing upto a couple of feet long could i think on getting which has less chance of eating the other fish in the pond ?
