here's some update with a little more plants and some feeder/cycling fish.

Is that an acrylic top you built? Lets see some pics of the top. I built one for mine but I rarely even use it now as I built it from wood and screen and it is too much of a hassle to remove as I often hand feed my rays. So now I just use egg crate fixtures.

Was thinking about go a shoal of piranahs and waiting for baby caribes season comes...now I'm having second thought, thinking using it to grow my blue diamond rhom. want to see how big I can grow it to.

yes, fully cycled. just waiting to decide what to put in it.

a member of a local club had one for sale. it was a little larger but i thought he wanted a little too much for it (and i probably dont have the space)
but yours looks so good i'm thinking i may contact him

anyhow, is the filtration built right into the end there? or did you have to add filters?

there's ~20g sump built right into the end but you have to pump water into it. I'm using a FX5 for mechanical filtration and the outlet into the sump which is loaded with 170 pot scrubbies for bio filtration.

Stock that sucker with reticulated river rays! It would look so awesome.

I don't think the difference between pond and aquarium is the material used. it's how you view the contain inside. if you look from above, it's a pond. if you look from the side then aquarium...at least that's how I look it.

I have one of the larger versions of these in my basement and it is absolutely great! Yours is Dutch Aquarium Systems (DAS) too right? Great for rays! Its the best of both worlds...Part Aquarium, Part Pond= Aquaripond or Pondarium! (I know I know...I just felt like being cheesy for a minute-Don't Judge me!)

not sure if it's DAS but it used to belong to a PetCo that went out of business, so can very well be Dutch Aquarium Systems. Post some picture of your setup. Wish I had larger one, then I can house aro in it. 6ft x6ft would be an awesome aro tank/pond but I don't think I can get it down to my basement if it's any larger than it is now. and I like how you call you, aquaripod or pondarium..very cool, lol

the top is acrylic, dont' have any pic of it but I attached the drawing I made. there are two pieces and connected with hinges. I could have more openings but as acrylic itself is a fairly soft material I would need to use additional metal frame for better support. Unless I go with much thicker material which means more expensive.
made a mistake in the current design with the reinforce acrylic strips used. they are not strong enough so the cover bow a little towards the center. I should've used more than just two..well too late now.
