Yay Area
I am currently a rookie in the fish keeper game and am looking to get some info on some possible fish that I could keep. Originally I was thinking about going with the prantis shrimp but decided that they are too boring becuase they stay hidden a majority of the time. So I have decided to go with fish as they are much more active. I currently have a 10 gallon setup and will eventually move to a larger 200+gallon but I want to get this fish keeping thing down before I take on something big like that. I was thinking about 3-4 dwarf puffers for the 10 gallon. My question is what other mini monsters like these would I be able to keep in the 10 gallon? I know barracudas are out cuz none are that small and same with Piranha...appreciate the help guys.

thanks for replying, i did some research on the fish and it doesnt seem to be have a monster attitude at all. It looks like i will be going with dwarf puffers...

In a 10 there is basically nothing. Spotted pictus cats maybe.

No offence but that's a horrid suggestion. If size were not a factor (and it is a factor) then their hyper, high speed lifestyle would be. I would not even keep them in a 29g. They require far to much surface area.

In a 10g dwarf puffers would work quite well. Be warned, they can be difficult to feed, often only willing to take live or at least frozen foods into their tiny mouths.
There are a few other options that come to mind as well. If you like cichlids a keyhole or ram setup would work. Or if you want something a bit odd you could try African upside-down catfish.

I was going to say pictus. lol. But, after that, no. Puffers are *** there boring IMO. You may like them but I dont. You said you cant go P's because of them being too big. You can go with a baby black in the 10g for a minimum of a year, depending on how big you get him at. They only grow an inch or two a YEAR. So I say black P.

puffers are adorable... :) they're kind of territorial and aggressive for being so ridiculously tiny, so make sure they have plenty of cover room. but they're cute and work great in a 10 gal. you could try a few guppies for color, but avoid big flowy tails on them cuz the puffers will chomp on 'em. puffers LOVE snails, so steal a few of those ugly pond snails that breed like crizzazzy and you'll keep your puffers happier than a pig in crap.

I still say Black P. lol. No offence above me tho. :D

some cories...or rams..
