Do as I did. Tank full of mystery snails, one little baby goldfish and you will be entertained 24/7 NO JOKE.

It keeps me up at night, watching them.

Appreciate all the suggestions...that Black Pirahna might be a good idea
I went to the LFS and saw some baby dwarf puffers, there were also 3 green scats in there with them which were like 4-5 times thier size...both the scats and puffers came to the glass to try to chomp on my fingers...one of the scats was dying though and the little puffers kept pecking at it and it would wake up for a while...those little guys are crazy

Santoury, how would snails and a goldfish be entertaining?

I was just looking at some Green Spotted Puffers...these get bigger than the dwarfs but still stay relatively small...what do you guys think of these?

Get one Spotted Puffer. My friend had one in a 10g. It was a cool little monster.

I was browing thru some other forums and doing some research and I am surprised that no one has recommended Glass Headstanders, they look pretty cool and got a nice set of choppers. They said that they also grow pretty slow and max out at about 4-5". Any one have more info on these and maybe a place that I can get them from?

Check with your local lfs, I believe they're in season a lfs local here had them.

Also might check out an african butterfly fish for a cool little predator. IMO black piranha you'll get bored. Most are shy and growth is slow.

:iagree: Besides, you should never buy a fish for a small tank with the intention of moving it to a larger tank later, unless of course you already have the larger tank and just want to grow it out in the smaller tank first. Black P: bad idea! Ctenopoma are cool little fish. I keep a pair of one inchers in a 29g.

I just started a 10 gallon. I have a male and female blue ram, 5 zebra danios and a oto. I think its a cool setup and everyone seems to get along. Welcome to MFK and good luck with whatever you decide!

I currently have a 10 gallon setup and will eventually move to a larger 200+gallon but I want to get this fish keeping thing down before I take on something big like that.

Just wanted to add that alot of people think that starting with a smaller tank is easier, when in reality larger tanks are easier to maintain because you have a larger body of water which is more stable. Why dont you get a 30gallon or so if you want to start out with keeping something more aggressive, you will have alot more options open to you. Set up the 10gallon as as a hospital/quarantine tank.
