Minimum tank size...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i dunno if u should be keeping that much cichild together... especially 4 Jds...

in time u should think about getting rid of it. or selling them... Jewels stay small... and Oscar and Jack Dempsey get Huge..

200 gallon is best if u them all for life... and even then.. a 200 gallon might be consider small...

Yeah, I realize the size that they are all going to get which is why I am going down to 2 JD's (keeping my pair). Already looking for a suitable home for the two ladies (who I got so I could find the breeding pair).

As the O's.... well this is where the decision gets harder for me.
I think the best option is to just get a bigger tank. lol.

"a bigger" tank may not serve you best as adult Cichlids typically do not appreciate the company of other adult Cichlids of the same species...

So "another tank" may serve you better...

Also keep in mind that Oscars are still "little kids" until they reach 6" or so... then they become "teenagers" and their aggression starts to come out... As full adults 10"+ they usually become 'gentle giants' but can and will fight when they feel it is necessary...

^Thank you for your advice... I'll keep all that in mind.
I don't think there is the possibility (for the time being) of setting up another tank.

So probably best thing I can do is find them a good home.
