I have not seen one of the goldfish in my pond for weeks. It is hard to see the fish because the water is green. I have to get the filter working properly. I don't think that he got eaten. He is the only fish that i have not seen. I have seen everyone else. What happened to him? Could he just be hiding? He was a favorite of mine and he was pretty big. He was my oldest fish and i hope he is not gone.

If it makes you feel better, net out all of the fish, place them in a container and do a headcount.
How big is this pond.....got pics?

Back when I had my pond I would sometimes have the same issue. I'd go days without seeing certain fish. Take care of your water quality issues and clear up the water and hopefully you will find it.

Haha....the first pond that you described in that link sounds similar to what I have now.I also had a raccoon problem a few years ago. They cleaned me out of some nice Sarasa commets as well as my baby diamond back terrapins. There are more dogs in the area now and some neighbors keep them in their yards throughout the night so I think the coons have moved on.I have not seen any around anyways.
Your current pond is nice, have you tried any barley extract for clearing up the algae?

Yes, i have tried barley extract. The filter isn't working properly and i am going to fix it. Hopefully that will solve my algae problem. I used to have a raccoon problem too, but this pond is 5ft deep so i don't have a problem anymore.

Oh yeah, that's pretty deep.

Barley rarely ever worked for me. Matter of fact, I couldn't tell whether it worked or not. I liked using quilt batting and a pond clarifier that always worked for me.
