Mixing Peacocks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The lithobates and the Borleyi I have had a few. Also the Hap Flamebacks I have fry and growouts from. The albino maleri fry all died in the fry tank and I have growouts from them. I would say fairly successful. I didn't catch the last female lithobates that was holding. I just let her go. I doubt any of the fry made it. The Borleyi I have 2 groups of growouts from but I lost my 3 wild females and one wild male in the water catastrophe. So I am adding maybe 6 F1 females to the tank to go with the new wild male(different blood)

I have 18 juvie frontosa (3 or 4 are 5 inches and the rest are 2) . I have a pair of red empress in with them and i cannot get them to stop breeding.

At first i would remove the female to let her spit but the rate of broods was killing me for space so started letting her spit in the main tank and there are even babies in there now. I have not seen them try to interbreed with any other fish .

I also have a blue dolphin and a unidentified hap (dolphin or blue sand sifter like hap) that are not breeding age yet. If they attempt to spawn together then i will likely have to remove one from the tank.

The tank is 7 foot 265 gallon, sand substrate and rocks, (3) 500 gph Hob filters , temp is 78 degrees.

i had a copadichromis borleyi and a orange blatch peacock together in with mixed tank. it was a 150 tall. heres some pics of the outcome

Thanks nortorius look forward to your write ups. Thanks for sharing that all male setup, and the no agression. If anyone has a full tank shot to accompany their comments feel free to post... any pics too big will be removed so we can easily read since that is the main objective of this thread.
