I ended up selling the red as it was nuts and the most aggressive piranha i ever owned and i've had quite a few.
My tank ended up with 2 caribe, 2 reds and my piraya who all lived in harmony until i sold them on.
The piraya was not too aggressive at all but this may be due to it being the smallest of the pack at 8'' and the others were 9''+.

so i have two six inch caribe from last season,1 five inch red belly, they are my biggest pygos, i have 11 three inch babies from this season, and five 4-5 inch piraya, what do you think would be the best way to introduce everybody in my 300????

plum id also love to hear your opinion as well about this situation..

300G? Congrats.

Introduce them all at the same time - if you have some already in the tank... reorganize everything so that no territories are established.

Temp - keep it around 77-78 let's say, seems to ease aggression at time, for whatever reason.

Have large enough decoration that the fish can hide, relax, feel secure in certain areas of the tank.

Get a bit powerhead. Think a Koralia 8 - or if you want to go a bit cheaper, get a couple Moded Maxi Jet's so that they produce 2600GPH.

yes sir 300 thank you,

the sump isnt done so theres nobody in it currently, but thats great news, is it save with those big size differences? im deff looking at powerheads as we speak.

Starting about a month ago, I've been doing a little experiment with pygo nattereri and pygopristis denticulatus. I have 3 reds living with my 2 dentics in my 110 gallon.

The reds are about 7 inches, and the dentics are about 4.5. SO far everything's fine, no aggression between the 2 what so ever. Both kinds shoal together and whatnot.

Not quite what you were talking about, but just thought i'de share.

i would agree, adding them all at the same time is a must.

I have heard of this before.... I have 5 silver dollars in with about 50 Piraya & 10 Cariba - minor minor fin nips.

Not sure why, but seems to work. Something about territories one would assume, but that is just my impression.

it does seem to be that way, when adding them all together they will still have a few battles to sort out territories and pecking order but it can get much worse when defending an existing territory that setting up a new one.
also a couple of inches difference in size can help.

Do you currently have the 50 piraya and 10 caribe? if so a pic would be awesome.
