well, i'm speculating that hunt wanted more money. so technically he turned it down initially. but not for reasons dana made it seem and what some media made it seem. like he was afraid of jds or something

hunt actually asked for the fight. so they talked again and made it happen

That would make sense.
If he gets past JDS does he get the title shot? I have a feeling JDS is going to come out to kill. Should be a crazy fight.

I'm not sure if there best friends and he's just building Weidmans confidence or what.

maybe i'm just nervous for Anderson every fight, but I think Weidman does possess the tools to beat Anderson. not on the feet but in the wrestling and submissions

I think the guy to beat Anderson is a guy who has strong takedowns, good control and submissions. chael has 2 of the 3 and it wasn't enough. we've never seen chris in trouble so we don't know how he will react. but he's got the size, wrestling and submissions to stop Anderson. a lot of guys talk big, but when the cage door shuts they are mesmerized by Anderson's movement and just his presence is enough to make a lot of guys go stiff.

if chris cannot take Anderson down, he will lose the fight. also he needs to be careful of Anderson's subs as well. but Anderson only has 3 true submissions. 6 total but he has 3 wins via submission from strikes and 3 from chokes. only 1 submission win while he was on his back in his career (of 20 ko/tko and 6 subs, 7 decisions) and that was against chael. the other two were rear naked chokes which he got thru transitions from the top

edit: he submitted travis lutter from the bottom. but his record shows it was a submission from elbows although he had lutter in a triangle. not sure which one lutter tapped to. I recall lutter in the post fight interview saying he was blacking out but that still doesn't necessarily say he didn't tap to the elbows

Weidman only has 3 subs as well.
I think as soon as he gets hit, he'll realize that Ando is in a league of his own. Silva has hard punches, but it's the perfect placement of the punches that really ruin people. This is also Weidmans first 5 rounder. I do agree that it will be a strong wrestler with good subs and control that beats him (if he loses before he retires), but Weidman simply hasn't fought anyone. Maia is a good win (now fighting at 170) and Munoz is OK.
Apparently the odds makers are with you, cause he's not nearly as big of an underdog as I expected.

I would be over the moon if that happened.

Rua is working with Freddy Roach

http://www.graciemag.com/2013/03/sh...oxing-trainer-freddie-roach-ahead-of-ufc-161/

“He didn’t know how to transfer his weight too well, and he wasn’t a very big puncher at first,” Roach said, reflecting on Rua’s first three sessions with him. “Once we got him pivoting and punching off the right foot, keeping his boxing stance, he punched really, really hard when he did it correctly.

“I don’t think he was ever taught how to do it correctly.”

Shogun has quite a few KO's for someone who doesn't know how to punch. He'll be scary after working with Roach. I still think Gustafsson will win; Rua hasn't been the same since his 30th knee surgery.
