Soszynski replaces hamill at ufc 102
by MMAWeekly.com Staff

"Ultimate Fighter" season three alum Matt Hamill has sustained a knee injury in training and will be unable to face Brandon Vera at UFC 102 on Aug. 29 in Portland, Ore.

Krzysztof Soszynski (18-8-1) will step in for Hamill in his second stint as an injury stand-in. The news was reported by Sherdog.com.

Soszynski gave himself a career boost in May when he replaced Houston Alexander to knock out Andre Gusmao at UFC 98, bringing his Octagon record to 2-0. It was the sixth straight win for the season eight Ultimate Fighter alum.

Vera (10-3) is on the comeback trail after dispatching Mike Patt in his last appearance at UFC 96. The San Diego resident is now 2-1 in the Octagon as a light heavyweight.

Barnett has failed a drug test and is out for the Fedor fight.

Guys rumored to be in to replace Barnett are Vitor Belfort and Bobby Lashley.
I'm so T.O.'d about that. Lashley has said he wants more experience before a title fight and Belfort stands no chance, IMO, so that would be pretty lame. There are so many others that would be a better match-up. How can he fail a drug test, esp. for the biggest fight of his life? :irked: I was so looking forward to that fight.

Yup, that's extremely disappointing.

If I had to choose between Lashley and Belfort, Lashley is the obivous pick for me. After his destruction of Bob Sapp (made him tap out to punches), I want to see him fight a big name.

I'd rather Lashley get a few more fights in before fighting The Last Emperor though.

It could be Fabricio Werdum too. He isn't an Affliction fighter, but he could still get involved since his fight with Overeem was cancelled.

I would say Werdum or Belfort at this point.

It's good to see them taking it seriously, that's for sure.

It's just disappointing. I mean, does Barnett REALLY need the juice?

I'd rather see Werdum, but still, not good enough, IMO. Too bad Carwin can't fight him, but there's just noone at Fedor's level right now.

And on another note, I didn't find Lesnar's antics after the fight very offensive, but whatever, lol.

damn barnett he should be more wise about stuff like that especially when it is so public now he look's like a fool. And, as far as lashley as a replacement is a joke I would rather see Brett Rodger's throw down with Fedor not Bobby Lashley he has 4 mma fight's not even a challenge for Fedor at least Rodger's has a better rep and more of a challenge to Fedor.
