mom and pop for fish, chain for supplies. except the petland chain here has a very good selection of fish from time to time

You really should bro, its a great store. A little high but its worth every penny never had a diseased fish from that store yet over 25 fish later.
mom and pop for me. they do weekly fish runs and hand select their fish from the vendors. i went on a road trip with them once. good times.
in my area, i need to stick with mom and pop shops. If i dont then i would never find a saltwater fish anywhere within 1.5 hours drive from me.
I'm actually surprised at how many people here live pretty far from a fish store. I guess that's the luxury of living in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
heres all my locals..... petco i refuse to buy stock..its all warehoused and unhealthy for a majority the staff is all newbs and box readers.... that goes for most chain stores.. mom n pops are good for stock most of the times because they buy from breeders but then u run into upkeep... all those customers all the work... sometimes a little ick gets neglected etc... its hard to find a solid source for yea thats my store!!! i usually make the 30 square mile journey before i buy stock but i prefer getting everything from a breeder localy or not its your best bet... food i prefer chains they sell more of the common stuff therfor they have fresher stuff... filters i get for wholesale so i got a store for all that... we all need to boycot chain stores for poor quality stock and massproduced inbred warehouse type environments....i breed what i like and donate everything to my local stores...
i like the "just hangin out with the fish attitude"at my lfs the chain stores have a used car dealer feel to them i dont like so mom and pop all the way
