Money making Breeder?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd just forget about breeding fish for money unless you're looking to start a business. Most stores can buy fish from S.E.A distributors for less than you would need to break even.

Word. Sad but true.:irked:

Before you chose a fish or plan a tank, decide if everything is in place for shipping (ie very close airport, packaging equipment etc. breeding experience), but the most important thing to do first is ...check out the competition! Who's selling to who you want to sell to? Perhaps there's room for another breeder or there are some critters they don't want to breed any longer.

Garage breeders haver paid for many a good vacation if nothing else :D.

Hope to see in our vendor section soon :headbang2

Go to your LFS and ask the staff what they sell a lot of. If you find a trend in a few lfs then you know what to start breeding. If not, at least it can point you in the right direction. A big part of making money breeding is optimizing tank space and grow rates so I'd invest time researching that as well.

That's the money maker ;) Also, I know where to catch them for free.. SCORE!

Also, peppermint plecos will get you some decent cash too.

In Australia endlers sell for lots of money too. (not common)

ASIAN AROWANAS!! ....if it was legal in the US!!!! but ill try Cichlids

Flowerhorns are good but you have to put out some good money to find a fertile Male and Female and dont breed Crap go buy $500 plus quality male and a hot female from Thialand Lakefish sells nice ones and lets you know if they are fertile or not.

you also need huge room to grow them out i know my projects are expensive and you dont see the quality till about 3 inches you must cull the poor fish nothing worst then someone flooding the market with crap fish and that goes for every breed even pure breed fish Texas fish are good breeders to and they always sell

go for comet golds
