Money making Breeder?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
discus very redaly wanted color full need good water qaulty though but are pretty good money if you breed qalty fish :)

go for discus or the zaire blue frontosa.
these are always in demand.

I'll second the asking your LFS. When I sold to individuals I sold angels, brevis, guppies (you'd be surprised how much a quality harem can sell for), a. cacatuoides. When I started sellling to just LFS, I switched to brevis only. They wouldn't give me crap for any of the others, but $10 a piece for 1/4" fry... which I could make about 50 of a month. now I will occasionally keep a batch of apisto fry and raise for fun, but since I don't really pay a whole lot of attention I get maybe 10% survival rates.

If you track your expenses properly, you will be very disappointed at how much money you make on breeding fish. If you want to have any chance at all, you need to find out what the LFS is going to buy. If you really want to make sure you can make cash you also need to make sure that you are not trying to breed anything that they raise in the ponds in Florida. If it is being raised in ponds down there, then you will probably never have any real success at breeding for profit.

Zebra plecos. SW Angels, Rays...... Anything you see catching high prices at the LFS, would be a start.

Forgot, Queen Arabesque Pleco's were just outlawed for export, forget their L number, but if you can find them still - you'll be able to clean up on them in the next few years.
