monitor coming along

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only thing I am worried about is that a lot of people think their monitors are tame when they are "pups." When they become adults, they rear their ugly heads and nasty nature.

Of course, some are the monitor whisperers, but think about how many successful nile monitor owners out there that don't directly contact them? Think about that for a second.

Just my two cent.

in the other thread you said that you paid 150 bucks for this one, why buy one and contribute to the growing problem of them being sold when you could adopt one.

i mean that hundreds if not thousands of these monitors are abandoned every day by idiots like you who walk into a pet store and see some lizard, buy it and then bother to do some research. when they find out how big and nasty their new "tame" pet is going to get, they then end up giving it away to an animal shelter or a reptile sanctuary or they just dump it somewhere. almost all pet stores will not take back monitors because then they would be flooded by people trying to get rid of them, not very profitable. monitor lizards, especially niles, are among the most commonly abandoned pets in the US. i believe that the top five are 1) iggies 2) burmese pythons 3) red eared sliders 4) nile monitors 5) red tailed boas. if you spend 5 min online you can easily find a center near you that would have a nile monitor up for adoption, just like a dog except they're alot harder to give away.

:screwy: ]

ok whatever.....why would i want a reptile i know nothing about,(backround history)

Its called a rescue...the history of the animal is probably something like, "Some buttjob bought one on impulse w/o doing any research and got in over his head once it grew up." Sound familiar?

If you would have gone to a shelter and prove you've done your research and can take care of it properly, you would have gotten a big one for free that you could try to impress your friends with.

We only give you so much crap because of your recent history in threads about your reptiles. Nile monitors are for experienced keepers - and you are far from that. We told you to start with smaller species of monitors if you really wanted one and you didn't listen.

what ever kid.i only posted to get complemments not insults from some pre teen, that volunteers at the humane society.

I don't often get into ridiculous stuff like this. But as someone who is trying to start a rescue in my area (there are none, and the local HS do NOT accept reptiles) I think this "pre-teen who volunteers at the humane society" is WAAAAY more mature towards proper animal care than you are.
Just my $0.02
and just for your info I am NOT some "pre-teen who volunteers at the shelter" I am 24 fully employed with a carreer that will allow me to retire some day, not living at my mommy's house, and I take the health and well-being of my animals seriously.

wow.so is that supposed to hurt my feelings.

are u supposed to be cool since u said that. :screwy:

anywayz i know my monitor is pretty tame..if u guys dont have anything to say that dosent start trouble do me a favor and just shut up.

OMG you aggrevate the hell out of me!!! Why cant you comprehend ANYTHING someone is telling you!!??!!??

First you said that you got a Water Dragon. But apparently got bored of it shortly after getting it and got rid of it.
You said you had your first TOKAY for over a year, BUT according to YOUR threads you only had it for a couple of month's before it died. Meanwhile you asked SEVERAL questions were given SOLID advice and didnt bother to follow any of it until the thing died.
Next you ask What should I get next? And on your list of animals you have a WATER DRAGON???? TOKAY, Leopard Gecko, and some other unfortunate herp.
Next you pop in with a PAIR of Golden Gecko's. But WAIT!! shortly after that you get a Leopard Gecko. WHEN ASKED WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOLDEN GECKO'S YOUR REPLY WAS "I STILL HAVE THEM".
Now you post your most awsomness pet ever!! A NILE MONITOR!! When asked about the GOLDEN GECKO'S and LEOPARD GECKO YOU REPLY "I STILL HAVE THEM".........but WAIT!!! Not a day later and you tell us that you got rid of them to get the NILE!?!?
Ooooo..but thats not all.....NOW you want ANOTHER TOKAY. And even better you are trying to tell us that you gave your original TOKAY that you had a whole thread about being dead, away to a museum,or some load of crap.

I am calling you out for what you are, a LIAR and an EXTREMELY IRRESPONSIBLE PERSON. And you know what, I dont care if "I" get banned from this site for saying it because it is the OBVIOUS TRUTH. And for Pete's sake someone needs to say it!!
You should NOT have a pet of ANY kind. These animals are NOT DISPOSABLE. And I truly wish that you would quit treating them as such.

Im sure that the "My Nile died" thread or the "I got the coolest pet ever" thread will appear soon enough.

I am truly saddened by your blatant disregard for life.
