also eggs. not chicken if you can get them. like duck or quail.

As stated in the FIRST Nile diet thread HE started NON fertalized eggs, no matter what bird lays them, are BAD for Niles. They contain Avidin which leads to muscle problems.

Eh, eggs are not good -- unless you know of a good Finch breeder who is willing to help you out. Even then, it should only be a treat for them.

Stick with the inverts as part of their diet -- it should be mostly made of crickets (brown, black, etc), locusts and roaches (lobster roaches are the best).

yea but its kinda impossible to know every single thing before u own a reptile.

Yes in a way it is near impossible to know every little detail before you buy a reptile, but it's also very easy to do a little research and know the basic requirements. I went to a Reptile expo a couple of weeks back and got a carpet python. I didn't know the exact temps, humidity, etc that it needed, but I knew what it ate, potential size, cage size needed, and that he needed a humid environment. I got him and some basic supplies, went home researched and adjusted the temps and humidity as best as I could, but yesterday I finally got within a couple of degrees of the temps and humidity he needed. Basically the point is that if you're going to get a reptile make sure that you can care for it, house it for life, and understand it's basic needs and do the research required. I'm sure alot of people on here have done impulse buys, but the difference is that they do the reserach needed for their animal instead of having others do it for them:irked: .

Even then, some of us are constantly researching some of the stuff on our own. Even though I have my anoles for years, and my Ackies for about a few months... I am still reading up on them because new information change all the time. My grandmother remembered years ago, it was okay to use sand and cedar or pine shavings; now we know the beddings are potiental health risks.

All good points....but the person in question has exhibited no such evidence that he has done any research of his own. It appears that he simply posts a question whenever it comes to him.

I agree...no one is expected to know every single little thing about their new pet, but general info is not hard to come by. Knowing what to feed your animal is most certainly high on the list of stuff to know before the purchase.

How am i supposed to know every thing they can eat, thats kinda impossible, its impossible to know everything a human eats, just like monitors we have mouths to.

it makes me not wanna ask a question because ,u people are always say DO UR RESEARCH AND SHOULDENT U KNOW THIS,after all this is a forum,a place to ask questions

You just had a multiple page thread on the Niles diet a week ago that YOU started. Wasnt everything laid out for you there??

I dont mind answering the same questions if I can..........for different people. But you have a tendency to ask the SAME questions over and over again. And a lot of the time you dont even bother to take the advice given. Its starts to feel like we are just spinning our wheels but going nowhere.

Have you bought a BOOK yet??

Yea really have you even considered opening a book?? What an animal can and can't eat is one of the most basic things to find out before getting it. Do us all and your monitor a favor.....go learn a little about it........

yea i have bought a book, and it says nothing about ground chuck.
