I have 3 Bala's in my 360. The oldest (2 years) is only 10 inches and the two younger ones ( 1 year) are 7 inches. I feed them twice a day, dry food in the morning and frozen brine shrimp at night before the lights go out. I also put in greens like Brussels sprouts, cucumbers, lettuce, once every other day or so mainly for my Pleco. The Bala's love the greens! What I don't understand is other members 12 to 14 inch Bala's that are only a year old? I wonder if people are "guesstimating" or actually putting up a tape measure???? I have a fairly large tank, water parameters are good, temps are good (80) I'm feeding good food and frequent intervals. I find it hard to believe my Bala's are stunted in any way. It seems with fish/fishing and any kind of fish type events, size gets exaggerated.
it is hard to measure fish in the water... a lot of people are guessing.. but the only way to accurately do it is take them out of the water but that stresses the fish.

when I see a measurement.. i always subtract about 2 inches lol

stress that's an understatement, i picked up four yesterday, didnt get a chance to meausure as they are sooo scared it was a case of netting them qiuck out of the poly box as they were knocking themselves out on the lid, my tinfoil barbs are over 12inches...
