No I don't want to own that many tanks but there are many members here who do own multiple large tanks to house the fish that they want. You came off in your post as if your were criticizing those who happen to have a few dats as if they all have them crammed into one tank.If you can't handle more than one tank then fine, that's you but it doesn't mean that others can't.

I could handle more than one if I wanted but what's the point most of the fun with keeping large pred fish is to get them to live in a group of different types

More tanks = less time to look at each fish

My point is we seam to encourage people to keep many tigers which have a potential size of this one in the picture above know they won't be able to take care of them long term which I feel is wrong
We wouldn't encourage people to go out and buy 5 red tail cats but it seams it's a different rule for tigers as when people post they are fighting one of the replies is go and get more

I have seen a few that big the problem is people get bored of IT hiding and being unstable so sell them on

I have sold a few ove 16" so they must be 20" now if they are still alive

Very big difference between tigers and red tails. Red tails will grow to monstrous sizes in a couple of years. A tiger that large would have to be, at minimum 10 years old, most likely 15.

It's very possible to own one that size under 10 years old... Just comes down to feeding. One of the biggest reasons you probably don't see good growth in dats is cause a lot of people starve the dats to try and break to pellets or something else and don't feed enough. So man people stuck on they grow slow when there are people out there that get them big fast power feeding and not starving them at all.
One of the best ways to tell is if the eyes are big to the dats body member on here named Jayc can tell you all about it. Pretty sure his st is under 10 years old and pushing 21inches

But isn't the starving a temporary process?...Once the dat is eating what the owner wants it to then comes the power feeding and or regular feeding routine.
