With the clearer picture I do hope the guy in the center is wearing shorts and doesn't have some weird sexual/oarfish fetish..

Man I can't believe how much info I know about this fish already in 1 hour. You guys should read this article http://www.thailandroad.com/trevor/naga.html

Claims that the picture was not taken in laos back 1973 but in 1996 off san diago cal. Man the story behind the King/Queen of Nagas is funny. A mythical creature that is superiour to man. Many stories in the south east asian countries. Funny how this picuter has so much stories behind it too. Some say all the navy guys died after they ate the fish.

But you know what, I do like myths and folklore tales. Somethings are just better left alone, like Nessie, big foot, and now Nagas. As long as it's not real and killing people, it is part of history. It is something to get exited about and tell stories of.

did a google research on the scientific name and yes, there are several sightings and a lot of people know about them...

Wasn't it an Hmong man that had that interaction with the hunters up there?

Interaction? I believe an exchange of gunfire qualifies as an "interaction".

yeah there's two (or three) species of oarfish they're prettymuch the same thing except for their "plumage". ones the oarfish the other's the peacockfich, or something. they're basically the same tho.

Yeah but those oar fish have different heads. The one I posted up had a head like a chinese dragon.

Look real closely, the head on my post matches the pics you posted.
