But they're slow-growing, yes? I'm wondering if I could grab a small one (~6-8'') and keep it in my 220 for ~2 years while I build a large basement enclosure. I'm hoping to do at least 3kg when I find the space. (This is a major life goal at this point.)

Ah, that answers my earlier question. Thanks! I'll just have to keep half an eye open.

And I mean, let's be real about the forum we're on. Obviously I'm spending all my disposable income (that doesn't go to tattoos) on the hoby. So 1-2k means I don't buy any other fish or gear for a month or so. 8)
 
Makes me miss my light phase i had :( wish I could find some smaller ones I'd buy them up. its honestly one of the 3 things i regret selling.

I miss my old 180gallon, had a light phase frt and some other interesting fishes :D
