Thanks louie. :)
I'll try my best to get a picture, but it will be hard.
The water is pretty clear, but a sighting usually last maybe 5 seconds till he spots me, even if I'm not moving. And when I do, the glare is pretty bad. I'm not giving up on you guys, but in florida this won't be easy.
Also, I just figured out about the lake that has a ton of grass carp, they electroshocked the place years ago, stories tell of a 100 pound monster in there that floated up. Although I'm not saying I believe that, it does say there are a lot of monster grass carp to be caught in FL.

Every Fishermen my father in law hangs with saids they are impossible to hook . Maybe you will never catch it .

"Grass Carp in Florida
Chinese grass carp were originally imported and stocked into Florida lakes in 1972 as part of an experimental effort to control <A href="http://plants.ifas.ufl.edu/hyvepic.html">hydrilla. When stocked in high enough numbers, the fish proved to be extremely effective plant harvesters. However, lake managers and biologists were also in for a few surprises: when attempts were made to remove the fish from the lake, they were amazed at the the carp's uncanny ability to outsmart virtually every type of fishing technique. Nets, hook-and-line, electro-shocking, even poison baits were minimally successful, especially after the first application. It soon became apparent that once released, grass carp were nearly impossible to remove. As of 2005, there are still no easy ways to remove grass carp from a stocked lake."

Did you catch it yet? Im not reading this thread.

You can use algae for bait. Scrape a big gob of any rocks. use no weight and as small hook as possible and bury it cause grass carp and be shy. If you must use a float us a "quill" bobber made out of a porcupine quill, they are thin and the fish dont seem to mind it as much as a big ole oragne piece of foam.

If the pond is near an area where the grass is mowed, go out there right after the grass is cut and the fish WILL be eating the clippings that are in the water. When I was young we had a neighborhood pond and the only way I could catch the grass carp was when they were eating floating clippings. I would throw them on a hook but they wouldnt eat them if the grass sank, only from the surface so I had to use light tackle, no weight, hook, and quill bobber and BAM BIG fish!! It was a hoot.

I havn't seen him lately, and with my horrible quality camera, I don't think I can get a good picture. But I'll try and get my friend's camera and put some polarized sunglasses over them to see if that cuts down the glare.

Unless the water is as clear as the beach its going to be very hard
and than you might have to dress up as a tree and wait for hours by ponds edge in 100 degree temps lol .
The Florida carp spook so easy .

I took some fairly close pics of tarpon/snook (not sure which is which) "breaching" while they swam and only got lousy pics.
