Monster Green Terror

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Green terrors are capable of living ten years or longer, but are one of those fish that are kept in such varying conditions and feed, sometimes based on misconceptions, inaccurate articles, or bad advice, that many don't live as long as they should, similar to discus fish. The one in the photos is clearly bloated and/or way overfed, probably the reason for an early demise... I hate to sound negative and point this out, but if you keep another one it may help you have it live longer.

Sorry, I cant edit last post

Wow that fish was in poor health. Not very big at all. I have seen a 16 incher and it was damn huge, but at 16 inch it's probably a 10 year old fish as they grow slow.

I have heard bogus claim of GT from 12 to 16 inch, making GT the same weight class as Oscar. No way, show me a pic with a scale to prove it. I raised many GT and have never owned or seen a male GT exceeding 10 inch.

It's quite possible for GT to live beyond 10 year or more. But I have never had one that lived beyond 8 year. It's rough to live to old age in a community tank when old fish has to withstand harassment from pathogens and tankmates.

It's looks me to as though he is stunned severely. Hence his hump getting do bulbous, and possibly the swim bladder. His face is also crooked, firt b er leads me to believe he was in a small tank as it would also shorten the life span. Sorry for your loss an all, just calling it as I see it.

I should have taken a pic. It was in a a Chinese fish store. It blew me away. Maybe 16 inch is an exaggeration but he was in the 12 to 14 inch range 100 percent!
