yea. my parents said that if i would take care of my fish completely then i could get another tank. so i got a 30 gallon and we took down our 5 gallon bc it got ich. but now a 30 is the largest they will allow in the house. but this plan is for a long time from now. what do you think? any advice or suggestions on any part of it is always appreciated.

the stock list seems kinda fishy... tropical fish with coldwater natives?!?!?!

keep the monster alive in you and anything will be possible with a few years of hard work :D :headbang2

if you have a shed you can make that your fish room but would be a lotta work, thats my plan, insulate the shed, and keep a wild hawk in there that only knows me.

ok. i have kept native fish with tropical fish before in my 30 gallon, it works. unless it does not work very well when they get larger, if they wouldn't get along then i would just do native fish + Plecostomus because i like them and i already have one for a pond. i hope he survives for the next 15-20 years until i can do this.

i will start small but it will be ponds because i like designing ponds. i would probably build a smaller pond outside and for the basics in pond building i will talk to a professional and see if someone could help me build it. i have friends that would be interested. this would probably be my 3rd or 4th build. it would be expensive because i would need to put in a few viewing areas in down below so that the fish can be seen underwater. they would be 2 inch thick glass panels about 6 ft tall and about 8 ft long. so pretty big and really expensive which i do realize. i might need to take out a loan or see if one of my friends wants to help me and put in some money into the materials and help with the build. but i am keeping the original dimensions as planned for a final build.

i will put a smaller design up that will be easier to do, cost less, and can do faster and its safer just in case i screw up. if anyone wants to see it i could put it in another thread. anyone want to see?

I would like to see it. BTW, 2 inch thick glass is going to weigh several hundred pounds, you would have to use a forklift just to move it. And it will cost a couple thousand dollars. Its not usualy a good idea to mix natives and tropicals because natives usualy require cooler water than tropicals. You can usualy mix sunfish with cichlids without too many problems. Most problems start when they get larger and start establishing territories. A breeding sunfish will kill any cichlid.

ok not going to mix larger fish then. currently i have a 4 inch yellow bullhead and he gets along with everyone because he hides all the time, he has had a run in with my 8 1/2 inch pleco that almost crushed him but that is not a problem. i think my bullhead has learned his lesson. thanks for the advice i will try to get another one of my smaller ideas up in the next few days. probably friday, im busy tonight and tomorrow with school work and a band concert.

quick question... how old are you? it seems like your gonna wait to build this gigantic thing in your parents house and they currently only let you have a 30 gal?

turtles just add more filth in your tank.

plus snapping alligator? they are kinda.. aggressive and hates to be annoyed
