Hello,

i've seen P. congicus in very different markings and colouration from the same place they were caught! I know a dealer very well who shows me nearly every fish he gets from Africa. He also knows well those ones who are catching the fish in Africa ... so i know that P. congicus from the same location my look different from specimen to specimen!!!
A keeper in Germany is keeping a specimen from the same import as mine - very greyish, very deep contrasts of the markings ... all in all it looks a bit like a sub-subspecies - but the specimen is caught nearly the same time as mine - in the same location!
P. congicus has a wide variability of colouration and markings!

Greetings
Uwe

Yes every bichirs do show different coloration, this not only happened in wild caught but as well in captive breed even the same batch. Some will show very dark some will show lighter or will have more green or brown.
But for the most part it's the substrates and background that effects the coloration the most.

hey is this true feeding them dojos make them grow faster and bigger than normal?

Yes I have tried them myself. Kinda expensive but worth it. Frozen gobies from your local Chinese market works as well. Even frogs.

I'm not sure about your local chinese market there but here they sometimes have them in frozen or live ones for human consumption. But I buy them for my bichirs. They rarely have live ones here. But mostly they have the frozen frog legs and frozen gobies year round.
