I wouldn't classify mine as a 'monster' tank, but here it is - will post pics later..
240 gallon FOWLR
Inhabitants:
1 6" Sunset butterfly
1 6" Asfur Angel
1 7" French Angel
1 3" Chrysurus Angel
1 5" Annularis Angel
1 5" Queen Angel
1 6" Maculosus Angel
1 5" Emperor Angel
1 6" Blueface Angel
1 6" King Angel (ok, actually living in 60 gallon sump.. my Chrysurus doesn't have any fins because of him)
1 7" Powder Blue Tang (was sooo scared adding him due to 'ick' issues)
1 3" Vlamingii Tang
1 4" Naso or Lipstick Tang
1 5" Sohal Tang
1 3" Miniatus Grouper
1 7" (and growing FAST) Lyretail Grouper - probably the fish that draws the most attention
1 6" Saddleback Grouper (have seen him only once since adding to the tank 2 weeks ago)
1 4" Clown Trigger
1 6" Niger Trigger
1 5" Porcupine Puffer (why is it that the common $20 fish is the one that most people love?)
1 9" Heniochious Butterfly (huge - trade in from someone at my LFS, and picked him up for $35).
Yep - it is crowded.. just can't stop buying fish..... I have a MarineTech 1000 skimmer (supposed to be for a 500 gallon tank), 60 gallon sump, about 350lbs of live rock, and water is actually really good. Yes, WAY too crowded for the 'life' of these fish.. I just wanted to set up a really nice display tank for now, and in less than a year's time see what fish I get the most attached to and go from there. Planning on just keeping no more than 3 of the angels, either the Sohal/Vlamingii or Naso tang/, P. Puffer, one of the groupers (absolutely LOVE the lyretail).
Aggression is in check (except for the King or Passer angel, which is why he is in the sump now). Sohal will chase the Powder blue around, but no scratches on any fish. I figure so far they are like cichlids - throw enough of them there, hard for them to make territories and kill one another. Asfur keeps the Maculosus in check.. Chrysurus is FInALLY ignored now - I bought the Emperor and the Annularis just so I could have a chance at throwing in the Chrysurus, but no luck.. the Passer is just soooooo aggressive, and never lit up.
Everyone in the tank is eating a variety of pellets, with raw shrimp, scallops and mussels thrown in. All angels are chowing down on Nori, and will actually get FAT. Only the Sohal seems to really like Nori.
Eventually I will be down to just 5 of these fish, and get either a tessalata moray again.. My 3.5' one ate my 8" p.puffer.. Didn't think he could get him down... this time, I am growing what fish I want rather large, and when they hit the 1' mark, then I will THINK about getting the FAST GROWING Tessalata eel again.. Kind of hard to throw him in with a large grouper by that time (impulse buy on all 3 groupers.. all 1 week apart.. I think I have obssesive/compulsive disorder that makes me go to the LFS every week so I don't miss the 'amazing' shipment... like the Chrysurus Angel..). He keeps telling me to go get the Wrought-Iron Butterflies.. but at $1300 COST for him, I don't think so.. I mean, I kept trying to resolve myself to get that $1500 dragon moray he had for sale, but just couldn't do it.. I cancelled my order on two 10" Selene Vomer - the lookdowns - just because I ended up getting too much of everything else.. and they really need a bigger tank anyways, or at least more swimming room which my live rock doesn't allow for. I doubt I will 'finish' off with the scribbled and personifer angels as well.. just too many as it is, and perhaps it is time to start picking and choosing which ones to keep... French, Queen, Maculosis and Blueface are my favs.. but have to eliminate one of these for sure.. choices, choices, choices..
I was going to add a coral cat shark (smallest of the sharks) but I really think my angels and triggers would wreck havoc on him, and besides.. space issues have hit me due to my inability to STOP BUYING FISH!!!!
All prices were Canadian dollars by the way..
Will post up pics tonight. My skimmer is only picking up a cup every couple of days, so I think all that live rock is working. Water is clear.
Hmmm... I wonder what will show up in his next shipment...
