Monster Setup on a budget?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
where i am from local fish are starting to include Snakeheads. So for all those wanting sneakheads please come catch some out of the mighty potomac and put them back where they belong, an aquarium. although i guess they don't belong there either since it is against the law and keepin them would not be saving you money but rather costing you money especially if you got caught so i guess this post doesn't really belong in this post anymore so i think i will shut it and move on.

I regularly see 125, 180, and 240 gallons for sale in the local newspaper or on craigslist. Custom tank sizes are usually less frequently found.

Here in the LA area, it is all about the Recycler. I regularly see 180s, 240s, and 300s on the cheap. In fact, I am thinking about buying and selling some of these whenever I find them real cheap to help pay for feed for my RTC.

IF JDman sees my post he will kick himself again for sure. He knew what he had but he hooked me up big time. I got a 300 gal, huge wet/dry, glass hood, lights, and stand for $150 bucks. The pump was included too. It also had a huge protein skimmer that I traded for a 12" jag. I got the master of all deals.

jesus christ. How?

I had a good bit of luck in that my best friend had bought a 220gal an sold me his 120gal cheap.

But to do a monster setup cheaply, Id say check the want ads for tanks, Stands can be constructed pretty cheap, Lights can be bought at any hardware store(90% of Flouresant fixtures are made for damp places).

he got a good deal and passed it on to me....he took a loss.

I have never had any luck finding cheap deals like you guys

I thought I had a deal when i bought my 75g for 350$

with nothing but a heater and biowheel filter :swear:
