You need to dechlor the water first, now if you inject dechlor at the faucet end with a metering pump and create a mixing turbulence...

or create some kind of dispenser that clips to the hose itself and slowly releases the dechlorinating agent into the water as it fills. that should solve the dechlor and mixing issues in one fail swoop

put a 2nd valve closer to the other end and just keep dipping the business end in the water till you fill the hose up then open the valve. Looks good though, I sure could use that for my tank!

aldiaz33 i’m in the market for a new python on roids as you say. Looking back at this, does the valve placement seem like the right spot or would you have moved it closer or farther from the vacuum tube?

I’m going to be building one soon...spending waaay too much BUT it will look awesome on YouTube lol.

Ps: this thread convinced me to up my tubing to 1.25”, I had planned for 1” orginally. Going to use 3’ long piece of 2” clear pvc for mine.

I'll try to post a video. I get a little nervous when I have to prime it because I have some clown loaches (3"-4") that could get sucked up if they're in the wrong place at the wrong time. They typically hide when I'm doing water changes, but I still worry about it.

Sorry about the delayed response. I'm not on MFK much anymore, so I'm just seeing this now. But I didn't see a video on your gravel vac; did you already build it?

I actually built a larger gravel vac for my 770G. i wanted to use clear PVC too, but it's pricey!

In regards to the ball valve placement, I think you want it far enough from the vac head so that you are able to restart the siphon when you re-open the valve after closing it and pulling it out of the tank to vac a different section of the tank. If you don't have multiple openings in your tank, this doesn't matter.
