I use to have a royal L330 spotted royal that would eat from my hand, and even would swim to my hand and sit in it to eat.
 
Well with a 300 gal, I'd say get a large grouper. Like the blue spot. Being in Ankorage You are close to the ocean an a vast food source for the fish. And are you close to Eagle River, I thought about moving there........

lol, more is always good but i'd go for one BIG and some small to prevent fights. i must say that royals eating from your hand is the coolest thing. especially when they start scraping your fingers with their teeth. Mine is too big to "sit" in my hand so all he does is hang onto my fingers.
 
OOH! LDA65! Like what oddball use to have! BIG PANAQUE! Of course that one would need something bigger than a 300 for life.

are you talking about the world's largest pleco? well, I crunched the numbers, and due sheerly to the cost of living in my geographical location, I could get anything from a 100-200 gallon tank, depending on if I can find a good deal at craig's list. I don't want to do a tiger fish, like I said that'd be awesome but they get like 4-5 feet long as an adult, and are active, and would probaly need a 1,000 gallon tank as an adult. I only want one fish, my litte BN pleco already eats out of my hand.;)
